Every milestone requires money and the more you have, the more likely you are to achieve the great American dream as we know it.
Most of us recognize the American dream as getting good grades, going to college, landing a good job and getting promoted, getting married, buying a house, having kids, and living happily ever after.
Society has conditioned us to strive for these milestones and signaled what “we’re supposed to do” through a generic definition of success. It’s not only making people broke, it’s robbing us of happiness, self dignity, and personal fulfillment.
Private school & home schooling is gaining more popularity. Public education is extremely underfunded. Qualified teachers are leaving the industry in the masses to work at places like Walmart for higher pay and lower stress.
Kids are graded through a system that dims their light, removes creativity, and takes over the joy of childhood. The ones who do excel with “good grades” typically have a lot of help and struggling with the system in place means have money, get medicated, or fail.
College costs an astronomical amount of money averaging between 100k-200k per four year degree. The acceptance rate at top rated colleges lowers every year and chances of getting in has very little to do with brains and very much to do with money or who you know.
College is not returning a good investment. $462 billion in student loan debt is repaid by people in jobs that don’t require their degree. Multiple industries are becoming irrelevant, yet people are still going to college for these disappearing careers.
Most employers don’t recognize a work/life balance & capitalist money driven America has normalized hustle culture. Hard work is undervalued & being efficient at a job just lands you more work for less pay.
People are working themselves into the ground for the praise of a rare Friday pizza party and a rant about company culture.
The average cost of a wedding is $30,000.
The average cost of a house is $428,700. No white picket fence at that price.
The average cost of raising a child to age 18 without aiding a college fund is $310,065.
1/10 Americans owe medical debt totaling a combined $195 billion.
Credit card debt is at an all time high at $930 billion.
Social security is on track to be completely depleted by 2035ish.
At depletion, income payroll taxes will only fund about 80% of benefits and might require an older age to access it.
It simply won’t be enough to cover the most basic living expenses.
Most Americans are ditching America in retirement and fleeing to other countries where the cost of living is much lower.
A dream drowning in debt.
It’s not a dream. It’s a nightmare. Wake up.
We want to live a happy & fulfilling life.
They told us we could do it if we just followed these milestones, but they didn’t tell us the price and they didn’t teach us about money.
